The US wholesale distribution industry consists of approximately 300,000 companies with a combined annual revenue of around $4.8 trillion. There are around 3,000 companies that maintain annual revenue over $100 million who contribute over 70 percent of industry sales volume. Distributors generally specialized by product and within each product segment, concentration is considered to be “moderately high”. In many segments, the 50 largest distributors hold between 40 and 60 percent of the market.
